The astounding William Moorcroft—gifted surgeon and England’s first qualified vet; horse breeder, plant-collector, information-gatherer, pioneering Asiatic traveller and amateur spy—as if these were not enough for one lifetime, he died in Afghanistan in 1825, and lived for another 13 years in Tibet. That is the Moorcroft Mystery.
