Event Details : Palimpsest Publishing House is hosting the launch of their first book in India ‘Freedom’s Mother’ by Anisul Hoque, one of the most popular writers in Bangladesh and Deputy Editor of Dhaka’s leading newspaper, Prothom Alo. The book translated from Bengali is pure fiction yet based on a true story. This book seen through the eyes of Safia Begum Once part of the Bombay elite (her husband was a senior engineer with the Tatas), she presided over Dhaka’s most spectacular mansion after Partition. She walked out of her husband’s home when he decided to marry a younger woman. Thus began her struggle to bring up her only child on her own.
