Event Details : 'Nashist-e-Khusrau' a Lecture-Demonstration by Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan. He is a renowned artist born in  Delhi gharana.His style blends tantrakari (instrumental virtuosity) with flashes of Delhi gharana gayaki (vocalism). Tunefulness, tonality, rhythmic patterns and ragadari all go together to make Saeed Zafar Khan’s performances appealing. An ‘A’ grade artist from A.I.R., he has kept audiences spellbound in numerous concert in home and abroad.
Themes to be covered in the lecture-demonstration:
1. Oral history related to Amir Khusrau’s role in the making of the Sitar.
2. The Sitar’s journey from an accompanying instrument to the main instrument.
3. Physical and stylistic evolution of the Sitar.
4. Ragas of Amir Khusrau played on the Sitar
