Ustad Asad Ali Khan passed away in June 2011. This film is a portrait of the great Rudra Veena master, one of the last people to have dedicated their lives to this instrument. Through the film we discover Ustad Asad Ali Khan’s family history, from the Rampur court to New Delhi where he lived with his adopted son Zaki Haider. The artist shows us the difficulties and complexities of playing this ancient instrument, and shares musical moments at home or in private concerts.
The programme will be introduced by Smt Manjari Sinha.
