Event Details : As part of the Nashisht series of the Aalam-E-Khusrau programme, Aga Khan Trust for Culture invites you for a panel discussion on 'Amir Khusrau : In the Making of Hindustani Culture'. The panelists for the evening will be Prof. Syed Shahid Mahdi, Prof. Purushottam Agrawal, Prof. Mujeeb Rizvi and Mr. Sohail Hashmi.
The themes for discussion would broadly focus around the following :
1. Towards defining what constitutes Hindustani culture in terms of customs, traditions and language
2. The role of Chishti Sufis in bringing people closer to each other and evolving a syncretic culture
3. Reconciling literary and oral history sources on Amir Khusrau in conceptualizing his legacy.
4. Amir Khusrau's role in bringing together Persian and Hindavi and laying the foundations of Rekhta, Urdu and Hindi.
