Event Details : 'Swadesh' Charcoal and Collage art by Mini & Mandira Naidoo.

mini naidoo's entire body of work showcases the true inner beauty of our country. it celebrates the Indian spirit and spirituality which is so deeply ingrained in our psyche.
'to remind you of that which has been forgotten, to awaken that which is asleep within you; we have the capability, the dignity and the beauty of becoming the prayer, the temple, the shrine.  we have both a circumference and a centre.  while the circumference-the body is always changing, the centre- the soul is still and quiet; it is eternal' - excerpt from India My Love

mandira's work is a mixed bag of ideas, mainly inspired by her introductory assimiliation of and her fascination with the discription of Kaliyugam.
Mandira’s work is full of cryptic symbolism. Familiar mythical content is deliberately constructed to ambiguate depiction. The peacock is seen as a sensuous, detailed, male bird, a visual metaphor for sexual ideal. Elephants are seen as heavy beasts, depicting the burden of human desire. The one legged cow/ox is Dharma. Other cows depict both innocence and benevolence. Serpents depict spiritual energy. All her visual juxtapostions aim to enter into the realm of the supersensory. Mandira intends for viewers to find their own emotional reaction to visual forms and woo art for its personal meaning.
