Event Details : Almost Famous Productions presents 'Teechers' English Comedy Play.
Fast-moving, inventive and highly entertaining, Teechers depicts life at a public school. Three school leavers,
using the format of an end-of-term play, perform an account of their experiences at their school, specifically
their time with the new drama teacher, Mr. Rao. The students sketch his progress through two terms of cocky
kids, cynical colleagues and an education system that he detests, until he departs, disillusioned, for the safer
waters of a ‘better’ school. It vividly depicts the eccentric and downright hilarious characters he encounters
along the way.
Past Performance of the Play : A production of Teechers directed by Karam Vir Lamba first was performed at various inter-college competitions on the Delhi University theatre circuit in 2008. The play won the award for ‘Best Play’ at all five of the competitions that it was entered into. We also picked up awards for ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Performer’ (four times) and ‘Best Ensemble Cast’. We were selected to participate in the prestigious Old World Theatre Festival held at the India Habitat Centre in 2008, where we received the award for the ‘Best Productions’, as well as an award for ‘Best Actor’.
Teechers is funny, relatable and evocative. It is a celebration of everything that made our moments in school some of the happiest and most memorable of our lives. We are convinced that the reason for this play’s success is that every member of the audience sees at least a little of himself in the characters on stage.
