Artist's Comment : THE ARTIST DOES NOT SEE THINGS AS THEY ARE, BUT AS HE IS ALFRED TONNELLE
I love doing watercolors, for their transparency and vibrancy. This medium poses challenges like no other. The uncertainty, the vividness and life-like emotions, harmonize well with my optimism, creativity, and obsession for quick decision-making.
I mostly use the wet-in-wet technique, where the “unexpected” happens…where the fun is.
I am grateful to Manish Pushkale who has supported me like family, Surinder Kaur for her bold advice on making powerful compositions, Rajesh Kumar Sharma - my first teacher, and Milind Mulick - a master Watercolorist from Pune; for their teachings and advice from time to time.
Thanks to California based Watercolorists, Julie Cohn - who helped me better understand the theory of Art and techniques, and Joe Shaw for his guidance with the “Air Brush“ technique.
I started painting late in life and I realize I have to hasten my learning. I am pursuing art vigorously, with the same passion as I put into my 40-year corporate career. This catalogue documents my journey so far in the art world. An immensely satisfying journey, which has a long way to go.
When not painting I enjoy playing the piano and singing; nature and bird-watching; and teaching management.
