“If there be a Paradise” is a collection of poems with Kashmir, Kashmirriyat and the impact of conflict as its central theme. Many of these poems are inspired by real life incidents. There is a tragedy enacted every day in every family. Families migrate leaving behind a lifetime of memories. Young men are killed thus wiping out almost an entire generation. Soldiers, far away from homes, in hostile surroundings, buckle under the inhuman pressure. Both soldiers and militants are pawns in a game in which rules are decided by vested interests. Human lives are the most dispensable commodity in conflict situations. Yet despite all the odds the human spiritKashmir, the life as impacted by the armed conflict, the erosion of Kashmirriyat, (the cultural ethos of the Kashmir Valley) a life of grace and sustaining values. Above all they reflect the futility.
