Time : 6:00 pm

Event Details : The reverberations of Jasmine Revolution of Tunisia are being felt far and wide. Totalitarian regimes in the whole Arab world are trembling with apprehension of their unexpected, unceremonious and sudden collapse. While people's protest has brought about the downfall of the Regime in Tunisia and Egypt surprisingly peacefully, in Col Qaddafi's Libya, it has been bloody and messy. After initial dilly -dallying the UN has voted for imposing no flying zone on Libya. But the missile attack at Libyan Defence Installations and tanks by France & the UK & USA is causing unease and consternation in the Arab League which had earlier supported the idea of imposition of a no flying zone on Libya. Leaders in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan,Morocco & syria are watching the developments in Libya with great anxiety.
How the future will unfold is difficult to predict but the humanitarian and economic impact is already being felt in the region and world at large: loss of lives & property, sudden uprooting of thousands of workers, rise in oil price, possible disruption of oil supplies if major gulf countries too catch democratic virus, uncertainities about investment, trade and business etc etc.
The political scene also looks grim and uncertain. Many quetions arise:
1-What kind of Govts will emerge if the current ones collapse in various countries of the region?
2- Will it be the dawn of Democarcy or conslidation of Islamic Extremism?
3-How should the International community react ;just be passive spectators and watch the brutal slaughter of civilians or be proactive and take the drastic action on the lines taken against Libya to rein in the violent means of the rulers who might be trying to to muzzle democratic aspirations.
4-France has recognized the Rebels in Libya should the rest of Europe/world follow suit?
5-How do these developments affect India,USA & China and how should they address them ?
6-Will the world be a safer place in the aftermath of recent developments?
