Event Details : 'The British Media, Lord Mountbatten and Indian Independence, August 1947' a talk by Dr. Chandrika Kaul, University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK.
The Independence of India represented the first major decolonization of the twentieth century. The lecture will focus on the key months during the spring and summer of 1947 and will examine issues of official publicity and the role of the media in portraying an image of empire and by implication Britain in a precarious post war world.
