Event Description : TALK "Space, Time and Ways of Seeing in Performance" by M. V. Narayanan, Professor, University of Calicut

Chair: Ameet Parameswaran

Abstract: The talk is an enquiry into how spatial features - location, dimensions, architectural design, and the physical, social and performative demarcations – of performance spaces generate certain ‘ways of seeing’, and how they contribute to the institution of the fundamental modalities of performance and reception specific to different performance forms. The particular instance of Kutiyattam, the Sanskrit theatre form of Kerala, will be addressed as an exemplar.
