Event Description : EXHIBITION "Interspiritual" a two-person art show by Nepalese artists Uma Shankar Shah and Seema Sharma Shah

The husband-wife team have established themselves as two of the most prominent artists in the South Asia Region. They have exhibited their works in extraordinary  solo and group shows across countries like Nepal, Japan, England, the US, France, Korea and Canada.

Seema Shah, a Ph.D in print making, works using a combination of techniques including one called ‘viscosity print making’ which includes aspects of relief-print and intaglio. Her works include several ‘unique’ etchings that have been embellished with the help of additional acrylic paint and stencil work.

Uma Shankar’s works include oil and acrylic paintings and also ‘unique’ etchings. His style of work takes reference from traditional Mithila Folk Art that he grew up with in the villages of Southern Nepal. His Cityscape series takes reference from the modern day city of Kathmandu.

Together their works complement each other. Seema draws the statues of Gods and Goddesses in a single thematic expression and Uma Shankar takes his inspiration from the temples in which they exist. Their work strengthens the idea of togetherness and emphasises the fact that every individual is connected, if not materially, then spiritually, for sure.
