Event Description : EXHIBITION : U.S. Embassy, USIEF and Ojas Art present “Fellowship” an art show by Fulbright Alumni

The United States-India Educational Foundation has received a grant from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi to organize “Fellowship,”an art exhibition by Fulbright alumni artists.  The exhibition will be hosted by Ojas Art Gallery and is the first exhibition to bring together twenty-one Indian artists who won Fulbright Fellowships in the visual arts over five decades, from 1964 – 2015.The curators of the exhibit are two Fulbright alumni, Kathryn Myers, professor of art at The University of Connecticut and Pradosh Mishra, professor of the history of art, Banaras Hindu University.  
“This exhibit brings together the work of twenty one Indian artists and offers them an opportunity to showcase their collective Fulbright experience,” said Adam Grotsky, Executive Director, United States-India Educational Foundation.
The Fulbright artists havetravelled across the United States during their grant period and engaged in creative research in universities, institutes, museums, art centres and ateliers.  “This exhibition will showcase contributions that artists have made in fulfilling U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright’s mission to promote mutual understanding across nations and Jawaharlal Nehru’s affirmation that culture widens the mind and the spirit,”said Kathryn Myers and Pradosh Mishra.

Anubhav Nath, Curatorial Director, Ojas Art said, “As the artists come from a diverse cross-section, this show is really a corroboration of Indian artists going to the US and observing the nuances of the cross-cultural exchange.”  “The art show will represent multiple mediums of visual arts and will include photography, sculpture, paintings, video art, installations and graphic art,” 
Dr. Craig Dicker, Counselor for Cultural Affairs, U.S. Embassy New Delhi will deliver the opening remarks followed by Mr. Adam J. Grotsky, Executive Director, USIEF.
