Chadar Badar puppetry is unique to the Santals. The Chadar Badar is made of wood, bamboo and fabric, and works on a simple mechanism of pulling a rope connected to the puppets. The puppets, which are handcrafted, reference the costumes and hairstyles of the Santali people and depict quite literally the Santal dance performance.
