Event Details : The Center for Human Progress (CHP) and partners present 'Art4Life (A4L)' Commemorating World AIDS Day.
The A4L initiative was launched on May 15, 2010. It aims to mobilize youth, communities, and citizens across the country to:
- Explore art as a powerful medium of communication about HIV, health and human rights;
- Showcase creative arts, e.g., music, dance, puppetry, theatre among other formats to promote awareness and stimulate dialogue about HIV, sexual health, sexuality, human rights and mainstream these issues;
- Produce the Indian “Great Wall of Art” created by youth, communities and citizens themselves which explores art as form of expression about HIV and sexual and reproductive and rights issues. An approximately 300x5 foot art canvas has already been generated through the engagement of about 75,000 youth, communities and citizens across India.
The A4L on 21 November, 2011 will witness a day long exhibit of art and interactive stalls by artists and community groups from around the country. Selections of painted A4L canvases will be exhibited at the venue during the day. The exhibition will be followed by a festive event led by several adolescents, youth, community organisations that will explore creative expression to raise awareness, generate dialogue about HIV, health and human rights issues. Art canvases will remain live for painting, drawing, sketching, scribbling and doodling messages throughout the day.
