Aravali Film Festival – Monthly Screening
In Silence is an award-winning Brazilian film that combines gripping suspense with a sharp critique of power structures within the cinema industry. The film delves into unsettling themes such as moral violence, sexual violence, and the culture of silence that enables abuse.
The character of Glória is more than an actress—she becomes a metaphor for the “glory” relentlessly pursued by the film industry: status, fame, and money, often at the cost of ethics and humanity.
Synopsis: Eduardo Porto, a celebrated television series director, finds his life and career unraveling after being assaulted by the father of a young actress with whom he shares a troubling past. As the incident threatens a major production, Eduardo hastily gathers his film crew to contain the scandal.
In his attempt to suppress the actress’s voice, layers of manipulation, ambition, and moral compromise begin to surface. Hidden relationships, abuse of power, and drug-fueled coercion expose Eduardo’s increasingly authoritarian and violent behavior. Rivalries and envy within the crew intensify the crisis, pushing alliances to their limits.
What starts as an effort at damage control escalates into a dangerous web of secrets and betrayals, leading to a shocking and tragic climax that leaves no one untouched.
