Event Description: Alliance Française de Delhi, in collaboration with the Aravali Film Festival, is delighted to present a special screening of Dream Factory — a deeply personal and poetic documentary by Aarushi Nigam.
Synopsis: Dream Factory is a meditation on the power of storytelling and the contradictions within the Indian film industry. Blending documentary and essay film, it follows the precarious lives of the “below-the-line” crew working behind the glittering façade of a big-budget Bollywood production. Seen through the eyes of an Indian woman negotiating her ambivalent relationship with her culture’s myth-making machinery, the film becomes both an act of reflection and revelation.
Borrowing Bollywood’s own cinematic language to tell the stories of its most invisible workers, Dream Factory offers a poignant exploration of labour, dreams, and the hidden costs of creating cinema for a billion people.
Film Duration: 1 hour 21 mins
Director: Aarushi Nigam
Language: French with English subtitles
Join us for the screening, followed by a Q&A session with the director, who will share insights into her journey and creative process.
