Event Description: Umrao Jaan (Hindi, Urdu/ 1981/ 145 mins) 

Based on Mirza Hadi Ruswa's 1899 Urdu novel “Umrao Jaan Ada”. In 1840s India, Amiran is kidnapped and sold to a brothel, becoming Umrao Jaan. As a renowned dancer-poet, she falls for Nawab Sultan, faces heartbreak, flees with bandit Faiz Ali, and seeks her past after his death.
