Event Description: Kaushiki Chakraborty, daughter and disciple of Ajoy Chakrabarty, presents a tribute to six iconic female pioneers of Indian classical and semi-classical music. This presentation honors the lives and artistry of Gauhar Jan, Begum Akhtar, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Shobha Gurtu, Noor Jahan, and Kishori Amonkar. These women, despite societal challenges, shaped the musical landscape with their mastery of khayal, thumri, ghazal, and more, paving the way for future generations of female vocalists.

Kaushiki explores their rich legacy, reflecting on the socio-economic conditions that influenced their music while celebrating their innovations in recording and performance. This performance blends timeless compositions with new creations inspired by their unique styles, offering a heartfelt homage to these trailblazing divas who continue to inspire and uphold the rich traditions of Indian music.
