Event Description: Leonardo And His Band

Leonardo was brought up in Cochin, Kerala. In 2019 he began playing the guitar while listening to Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Dylan and Warren Mendonsa, amongst others. He wrote his first song ‘Gates of Jerusalem’ in September of 2021. “That song hit me like a lightning bolt, I had the words and music down in about 20 minutes. The rest of the songs followed quickly after that.”His debut album ‘Leonardo’ was released on August 9th, 2022. From the meditative ‘Gates of Jerusalem’ to the mystical ‘Rosalie’ and rock n’ roll ‘What Good Is It Mama’, this album harks back to the rough hewn nature of the Delta blues men mixed with a bardic lyrical quality.

Karan Mahajan is a musician, composer and guitar player based in New Delhi, India. He studied formally at the Global Music Institute (2014- 2016). He has worked with various musicians in the Delhi circuit including Takar Nabam (Same Sky), Isaac Smith (Sneak Attack), and Raphaelle Brochet and Philippe Aerts (the Piano Man). In 2016, he performed at the annual Music Matters Festival in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as part of the Tarun Balani Collective. Presently, Karan is leading his eponymous band and is also collaborating with Sonal Ajwani on the project ‘Karan and Sonal’.

Ravali Komanapally, originally from Hyderabad, is a pianist/keyboardist with roots in contemporary music. Having had the opportunity to learn at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music from the likes of Gabriel Geszti, Raghuraman Ramasubramanian and Karina Colis to name a few, it has helped her develop a keen sense of interest in Brazilian, Latin and Jazz Music. She is currently learning with Aman Mahajan, one of the most reputed names in the Indian music circuit. She is heavily inspired by artists such as Jacob Collier, Shai Maestro, Pedro Carneiro Silva and Hermeto Pascoal to name a few, and tries to incorporate those influences in her playing.

Also being very fond of music education she is an educator herself and currently is working at Theme Music Institute as Piano faculty.

Raghav Khullar is a Drummer based in Delhi. He was introduced to music at a young age and has been playing and collaborating with various artists from across the city. He has completed graded examinations from Trinity College London and has been under the tutelage of Mr. Manoj Mavely. He has extensive stage experience, and has played with musicians from several different genres including Jazz, Funk, R&b, Blues, Pop, Rock and Indian classical.

Tanisha was introduced to bass guitar in 2017 briefly but went on to pursue dance. Since the pandemic hit, she gravitated towards music again and now has been playing the bass consistently. She wants to continue exploring and growing with music.
