Event Description: MUSIC: Xander Naylor Trio

Xander Naylor is a guitarist, improviser, and composer living in New York City, who combines avant-jazz, post-rock, and Indian classical music into a singular new sound, described by The Critical Masses as “a language all his own.” His music has brought him to perform concerts and festivals all over the world, including North America (South By Southwest Festival, USA), Europe (Assomniak Festival, France), and India (Chhandayan Annual Concert, Kolkata).   

Naylor is a ground-breaking guitarist, and a fearless searcher, forging new techniques, extended sounds, and employing rhythmic acrobatics, all in service of a visceral experience which fosters and promotes greater understanding.  A student of tabla master Pt. Samir Chatterjee, he has worked tirelessly to adapt the sounds and techniques of Hindustani music onto the guitar and within the Western styles of rock, pop, and jazz.  Naylor is committed to passing on his love and passion for music, and teaches at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (NYC). 

In 2018 Naylor released the full-length record Transmission to critical acclaim at home and abroad.  2020 promises to be a busy year, with the release of the follow-up record, Continuum, along with extended touring in India (Feb.) and the USA.  For more info and full tour schedule, visit www.xandernaylor.com
