Event Description: MUSIC: Loek van den Berg Quintet
The Loek van den Berg Quintet is a rising band on the Dutch music circuit, consisting of a Rotterdam-based saxophonist whose signature lyrical compositions and soulful approach, characteristic of greats such as Cannonball Adderley, never fails to engage his listeners. Together with a heavy-grooving rhythm section and a formidable brass-accompanist, Loek's energetic performances will not leave you indifferent.
About Loek van den Berg:
Loek van den Berg (1996) is a Dutch saxophonist, based in Rotterdam. Through his accessible and recognizable playing style, which consists of a lot of lyricism, interaction and swing, he is able to reach his audience every time. Loek’s playing style is influenced by different saxophonists as Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Stitt and Paul Desmond.
At the age of 18 years, old Loek started to study at the conservatory of Arnhem. Currently, he is doing his bachelor of music at the conservatory of Rotterdam (Codarts), where he got lessons from Benjamin Herman, Simon Rigter, Ben van den Dungen and Tineke Postma.
At the moment Loek plays in a big variety of musical projects, crossing different genres/styles like Traditional and Contemporary Jazz, Bigbandjazz, as well as Funk and Pop. For more information about these projects, take a look at the Projects subpage on this
