Ragas are unique and fundamental to Hindustani classical music and they make a very interesting study in terms of the mood they create.
The Beehive welcomes you to a special evening with Rama Sundar Ranganathan to experience and explore fascinating aspects of ragas such as time theory, rasas and seasonal ragas.
There will be live demos, engaging discussions and lots of interesting anecdotes – a beautiful evening of Learning and Music.
The session is tailored for anybody curious to explore Indian Classical music – prior knowledge is not necessary.
About The Facilitator: Rama Sundar Ranganathan
Rama is a professional Hindustani Classical Musician. She is an ‘A’ grade All India Radio artist and has sung at renowned festivals hosted by HCL, Spic Macay, Kalashree foundation, Swaranjali, Gunijan Sabha and many more.
She recently collaborated with European sound engineers to record a meditative piece called “With Love, From India” for their website mynoise.net. She conducts workshops for schools and colleges and is a guest lecturer on Hindustani Classical music with Ashoka University.
Having also trained in art at Triveni Kala Sangam Rama uses the mediums of oil, watercolours and ink wash sketching to express herself besides singing. She devotes her time performing and doing workshops for schools and colleges on the subject of classical music with art as her tool.
Rama is an exhibiting artist, a published author of Children’s books and also writes a popular blog - Rama's blog is a commentary on music, art and culture and has been nominated as one in top forty cartoon websites by Feedspot. She also writes for TimesInternet.
