Filmbooth in association with Pulse & Maxtowers, Max Estates bring to you an evening of award-winning shorts. We are back with our last screening of 2019, showing some of the most amazing set of short films from last year which have been recognized at top film festival in India and abroad, starring some of the finest actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Soha Ali Khan, Vinay Pathak, Sheeba Chaddha, Vipin Sharma & more.

1) Soundproof

Synopsis
A young divorced woman, Sana, rents an apartment in Mumbai hoping for a new independent life...But instead, she finds herself caught in a maze of peculiar occurrences. Her attempts to unearth the mystery makes her run into a society that has insulated itself. A society that's become rigid with fear by serving the powerful...

Synopsis:
Unable to rely on her cash-strapped family to further her education, Fatin, an ambitious Architecture Student from a lower-middle-class Muslim family, seeks out a scholarship from a conservative Muslim Trust. During the interview, she gets reprimanded by the interviewing officer, Niyaz Sheikh for not following the religious tenets meant for women.
At the tomb below the trust office, she meets two young girls who are students at the local Madrassa. One of them, Rafiya has a fixed notion of being a 'good girl' by following the set rules of the religion; the other, Shireen seeks freedom from the same. Fatin has to choose between reinforcing Niyaz's misogynist ideas and live with the burden of her own muddled morality or stand up for what feels right. In the process, Shireen, who largely represents girls who are systematically indoctrinated into losing their identity, becomes a catalyst of change for Fatin.

Synopsis
Lalit,28, decides to come out to someone who is really special and close to him. In order to reveal his sexuality and seek acceptance, he cooks a special dish, a Bengali style fish curry, 'Maacher Jhol((माछेर झोल) ). He prepares this dish by listening to a famous radio cooking show. Will the fish curry turn out to be delicious? Delicious enough to appeal to the heart of someone special? This film is a recipe made up of 7500+ drawings, 570 days of hard work and most of all, your belief and faith in us to bring you this 2D hand-drawn animated film.

Synopsis

A day in the life of Batti(source of light), a 10-year-old boy, who works on his daily routine of cleaning parked cars early in the morning, finds solace in keeping himself busy without uttering a word or shedding an emotion. True to the mirror's reflection, he reflects his desires and ambitions of a normal childhood on the shiny, silvery reflected-self, but the city of dreams demands a price.
