Event Description : FEST: Jashn-e-Rekhta’s 6th Edition

The three-day festival will celebrate Urdu language and Hindustani culture through Ghazals, Sufi Music, Qawwali, Dastaangoi, Panel Discussions, Mushaira, Poetry Recitations, Celebrity Conversations, Urdu Poetry and Pronunciation Masterclasses. There will also be a curated Food Festival (Aiwan-e-Zaiqa), a Book Exhibition, Art & Craft Bazaar and display of Calligraphy.

The 6th edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta will also commemorate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Mirza Ghalib’s 150th death anniversary.

This year’s focus will be Women’s Role in Creative and Performing Arts through various sessions and performances.

The festival will open on 13th evening with a Sufi musical performance by Harshdeep Kaur and will conclude on 15th December with a performance by Jaspinder Narula.

Some of the distinguished authors, poets, artists, literary scholars, singers and acclaimed personalities from the film and television industry will be part of Jashn-e-Rekhta 2019. They include Munawwar Rana, Javed Akhtar, Rahat Indori, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Raza Murad, Chandan Dass, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Anubhav Sinha, Divya Dutta, Gopi Chand Narang, Shamsur Rehman Faruqi, Piyush Mishra, Muzaffar Ali, Harshdeep Kaur, Jaspinder Narula, Tushar Gandhi, Lubna Salim, Manjari Chaturvedi, Shabnam Virmani, Maithili Thakur, Ustad Raza Ali Khan and Pooja Gaitonde as ambassadors of Urdu language and Hindustani culture.
