Event Description:
Teamwork Arts presents Under the Banyan Tree on a Full Moon Night

At the November edition of Under The Banyan Tree on a Full Moon Night, we paint the ‘Soundscapes’ of India - the natural and human-made sounds which define this bustling, thriving amalgamation of cultures, languages and traditions. We celebrate the diversity of the Indian aural landscape. We present performances of new sounds coming out of the native music fraternity - creating soundscapes with immersive experiences that are uniquely Indian.

The dress code for the evening is 'Neon Hues' and all audience members are encouraged to explore, experiment and express their creativity through their attire.

The first performer of the evening, Aditi Ramesh, is a jazz/blues Carnatic vocalist, songwriter, bandleader and producer from Mumbai. Aditi's music is about the exploration of the space between genres. Her sound is influenced by soul, jazz, blues, Carnatic, funk and folk music. Aditi Ramesh has had the fortune of studying with Kiranavali Vidyasankar and the late Padma Bhushan Sri RK Srikantan.  Her debut EP, Autocorrect, has been listed as one of the top 10 EPs of 2017 by Rolling Stone India. Apart from her solo project, she plays keys and sings with ‘Ladies Compartment’ and is a part of acapella and beatbox ensemble ‘Voctronica’.

The second performance will be by Dastaan LIVE, an art-rock project that brings together the world of the aural and the visual to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences to create spaces for dialogue and interpretations, and to compel people, above all, to think. Melding music and visuals, this Delhi-based collective seeks to highlight the social and cultural issues of the day. As part of the Dastaan LIVE set, for the first time, the stunning Banyan tree will be bedecked with visual projection mapping recreating the entire space and experience.

Under the Banyan Tree on a Full Moon Night is a unique concert series that forefronts rich and diverse music through an eclectic mix of artists and sounds from all over India. Audiences get the chance to witness performances by musicians under the tranquil repose of a banyan tree with minarets of the iconic Qutub Minar as the backdrop. The Baithak-style evenings, where moonlight and music blend to recreate the poetic charm of traditional musical gatherings, offer audiences an intimate experience with the like-minded and an opportunity to engage with the musicians.
