Event Description : MUSIC : Groovemeister

Groovemeister is a quintet from Bangalore, India.  

They love to tell stories through the use of modern sounds laced with influences from contemporary jazz, blues, funk and soul. The ultimate purpose of this unit is to groove, to communicate at an abstract level beyond the realms of language, thought and gesture.  

Through their compositions and collective improvisation they strive to evoke emotions and visions of the stories that they conjure up.  

Vijayganesh Panchanadhan : Guitar  

Vijay can often be seen twisting and jumping while playing. His playing is an expression of the joy that music brings to him. Vijay is a student of world music and constantly tries to incorporate harmonic and rhythmic concepts from across the globe in his playing. His influences are diverse and include artists like Phish, John Scofield, Steely Dan, as well as Carnatic and African styles.  

Legsang Sherpa : Guitar  

Legsang Sherpa’s calm aura hides a musician with a command over his instrument. His playing draws from the vast reservoir of ideas that he has acquired through diligent practice of his craft. His melodies and harmonic language display the nuances of the Jazz and Blues idioms delivered with deftness of a classically trained guitarist. His influences range from Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd to Charlie Hunter, Pat Metheny and many others.  

Siddharth Suresh : Piano/Keyboards  

Siddharth Suresh has an inimitable style on the keys with an immovable groove and an ever-evolving harmonic language. His playing ebbs and flows with ease as is required by the music. He is inspired and influenced by a wide palette of music from Classical, Rock to Jazz.  

Arjun Ramdas : Bass

Arjun Ramdas is the vital cog in this groove outfit. His playing has the magic that breathes life into the song. He is an ardent student of the music and a fearless improviser who constantly pushes his personal and the band’s boundaries  

Wesley Newton : Drums  

Wesley is the pocket-machine and the foundation this outfit is built upon. The source of his music is his heart and his playing is a reflection of his personality. His musical influences range from African-American Gospel Music to R&B/Soul and Jazz.
