Event Description : MUSIC : Big Family Band live

Big Family is a blues band from Kolkata, India. The quintet formed in February, 2013. Their first gig was at Jamsteady, Princeton where they played to a packed house. They have ever since played the city circuit regularly and have built a loyal following. Phoenix (ex-Plush) is one of Kolkata Venues that hosts Big Family on a monthly basis. In early 2016, the band started traveling the country. Since then the focus has been on writing and composing their material. They plan to hit the recording studio at end of the year after touring behind the compositions.  

Big Family draws its musical influences from different styles within the blues. BB King, Etta James, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robben Ford, Derek Trucks band, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, John Scofield, Bill Evans, Thelonius Monk to modern players like Matt Schofield, Guy King and Kirk Fletcher. It is an endless river of influences that contribute to the musical background of Big Family. Thereby, standing still is not an option.
