Rhythm Society for Performing Arts, founded in 2009 is celebrating 10 years of its relentless pursuit to extend the divinity of the Indian Classical performing arts among general masses with workshops and festivals. It is a confluence of Vedic Arts & Contemporary India to celebrate the eternal ethos and quest for excellence in performing arts.

Created way back in 2006 by Pt. Udhai Mazumdar, enthused by Pandit Vinay Mohan Sharma’s Hindi version of the same. Gita Govinda is an epic poem, written in Sanskrit by Jayadeva in the eleventh century. In this poem he unabashedly describes the love affair of Krishna and Radha. This mesmerising tale pronounces the countless dispositions of Jealousy, sorrow, repentance, seclusion, yearning and ecstasy.

The Musical is an adaptation of the original Sanskrit version, Pt. Udhai Mazumdari Mazumdar conceptualized and re-scripted Gita Govinda with English narrations and Hindi songs for which he composed and scored the original music, reflecting the confluence of Kathak (dance), Abhinaya (drama) and Gita (music) in this immersive tale that has enamoured the spectators in India, South America, and Europe.

Produced and choreographed by Namrrta Raai the Kathak Danseuse and Founder of Rhythm Society for Performing Arts. The “Krishna’s” solos have been retained from the original choreography by Dr. Madhukar Anand. The new expression of Gita Govinda features Namrrta Raai as Radha, Vishal Krishna as ‘Krishna’, along with an interesting entourage of Dancers, Set Designer, Light Designer and Costume designer to reawaken the perfect union for the eternal epic.
