Event Description : MUSIC : Jaipur Virasat Foundation presents Rajasthan X Peru
A special performance by world-class musicians blending Peruvian and Rajasthani folk music. The haunting sounds of Peru and Rajasthan come together once again as the highlight of the celebrations for the 198th National Day of Peru. We have the utmost pleasure to welcome the amazing Chano Díaz Límaco back to India, who will play alongside Rajasthani folk legend Gazi Khan in an unmissable double show on the 25th and 27th of July.
Artists : Gazi Khan Barna, Chano Diaz Limaco, FIroze Khan Maganiyar, Bhanvru Khan Langa, Harun Khan Langa, Talab Khan Barna, Kito Linares and Tomas Diaz Limaco
About the Artist : Gazi Khan Barna: Gazi Khan Barna is a long standing associate and friend of RRAP's, and he features heavily in our museum, showcasing his master Khartal skills and sharing deep wisdom through interviews. He featured as a musician on groundbreaking film Latcho Drom, sang 'Baisa Ladka Ghana', a song featured on award-winning film Parched (Leena Yadav, 2015) and has performed over 205 venues internationally taking our Rajasthani sounds with him.
Chano Diaz Limaco: A multi-instrumentalist (specializing in beautiful Andean instruments Charango, Quena and Zampoña/Panpipes to name a few...) coming from a long tradition of musicians from Ayacucho, Chano started out his career busking around the streets of Europe in the early 90's before returning to Peru and becoming an integral part of era-defining folk fusion bands such as El Polen and Del Pueblo y Del Barrio. He recorded several best-selling Andean instrumental records and went on to musically direct epic documentary Sigo Siendo 'Katchkaniraqmi' by director Javier Corcuera, which traversed the varied Peruvian landscape via the old and new masters of its incredibly deep-rooted folk traditions. He has taken the Andean traditions all around the globe in solo performances, but we are excited to announce that this will be his very first concert in India.
About Jaipur Virasat Foundation: JVF works creatively with the traditional culture of Rajasthan. Its objective is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and support cultural diversity.
