Event Description : Natya Ballet Centre presents Inside/Outside Performance

The event is a dance based evening showcasing a mix of classical and contemporary performances by talented artists. The entry to the event is free followed by tea & snacks. 

PERFORMANCES

CHITRALEKHA
Choreographed by: Guru Aniruddha Das
Guru Aniruddha Das is an exponent of Odissi and a recipient of the prestigious Guru Debprasad Das award. A Doordarshan gradation artist and an ICCR empaneled artist, he has choreographed several shows for the centre such as Krishna, Draupadi and Nirvana.He has been the Odissi Guru at Natya Ballet Centre for over a decade.

Pushpanjali and Thillana – A Bharatanatyam recital
Choregraphed and performed by Prasun Sen
The performance will commence with Pushpanjali performed on Raag Gambeera Nattai and Talam Adi. Pushpanjalli is an offering of flowers and considered to be an invocation to the Lord Nataraj, and Guru  to receive their blessings.

The next piece is Thillana performed on Raag Hindolam and Talam Aid. A beautiful Carnatic piece of rhythm is generally performed at the end of the main composition. The liveliness, briskness and the energy of the dancer is what makes it all the more mesmerizing to watch.

Prasun Sen trained in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Shri Kohinoor Sen Bharat and Guru Shudha Jagannath. He received advanced training and a diploma in Bharatanatyam (Varuvur Ramaya Plalli) style at Nrittakshetra Academy of Performing arts, Kolkata under the guidance of Anusuya Ghosh Banerjee.

At present, he is training under Guru Jayalaxmi Eshwar ji at  Avinaya Aradhana Institute of Fine Arts New Delhi and Nattvangam under Guru Shri Vidvaan Elango Govindrajan at Triveni Kala Kendra, New Delhi.

About Krrishan Verma
Krishan Verma has trained in Odissi, Chhau and Indian Contemporary Dance under Guru Aniruddha Das, Guru JJ Sai Babu and Santosh Nair. He has travelled widely both in India and abroad performing at festivals. He has worked closely with the Malaysian High Commission for the Buddhist Festival in Sri Lanka and Thailand. He teaches Chhau at Natya Ballet Centre.

JUGALBAANDI

The performance is a collaboration between Chhau dancer Kuleshwar Kumar Thakur & Kathak dancer Meera Rawat.

Kuleshwar Kumar Thakur is a trained in Mayurbhanj chhau, contemporary and yoga exponent who acquired his skills from Guru Jamejoy Sai Babu and Sh. Santosh Nair. He has developed a unique style of his own with extensive research of various dance scriptures along with collaboration with other seasoned classical dancers. He has worked on several prestigious productions with leading artists and has performed in several countries abroad.

He is an active member of RASA UNITED and also imparts training to youngsters under his own banner YAGNA.  
Meera Rawat, a young Kathak dancer (Lucknow Gharana) began her journey under the guidance of Guru Smt. Nandini Singh. Later she trained under Pt. Krishan Mohan Mishra Maharaj. Meera has performed at various national and international festivals and has worked as a repertory artist with the Kathak Kendra. She has been awarded with a Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture for 2 years.

IMPROVISATION AND DAAG

A contemporary performance 

Ajay Bhatt has trained in Chhau and Indian Contemporary under Gurus JJ Sai Babu and Santosh Nair. Over the years he has perfomed in various festivals like Rukmini Devi Festival, the Quwater Festival and Sahitya Kala Parishad. He has choreographed shows with Lushan Dubey, Karan Balley and Rudr Chakravarthy. He teaches Indian Contemporary Dance at the Natya Ballet Centre.

KAALBHAIRAV

Duration: 10 minutes  (7:00)
Kaalbhairav depicts Lord Shiva’s form using elements of Mayur Bhanj Chhau and Contemporary Indian Dance.  Energetic lifts, mudras and unique formations showcase the various postures of Lord Shiva as the destroyer as well as an ecstatic cosmic dancer.
