Event Description : ART EXHIBITION : Italian Embassy Cultural Centre present "Shakuntala and other Love Stories"

The exhibition“Shakuntala and other Love Stories”, The charm of India in opera and ballet- is an exhibition of  the  sketches and costume designs, of the works The legend of Sakuntala by Franco Alfano, The Daughter of the King by Adriano Lualdi, The Woman without a shadow by Richard Strauss, The pearl fishermen by George Bizet, L'Africana  by Giacomo Meyerbeer and the Nutcracker ballets, The Sleeping Beauty by Peter Il'ic Cajkovskij and Mondo Tondo by Ennio Porrino belonging to the iconographic collection of the Teatro dell'Opera Foundation in Rome. The Historical Archive has conceived and created this exhibition, which aims to be a respectful tribute to what the culture of India has transmitted to the whole of the West. Composed of 16 sketches, 71 costume designs, made by famous scenographers and costume designers of the last century such as Cipriano Efisio Oppo, Mario Pompei, Veniero Colasanti, John Moore, Salvatore Russo, Mario Giorsi, Mario Cito Filomarino, the exhibition also features 10 original costumes.
