Known for its rastafaarian culture and being a habitat for experimental, homegrown music, Raasta Green Park aims to give you nothing but the best of sonic experiences within the city. This Friday, they bring to stage the legendary Dutch taste-maker, Thee J Johanz taking over the decks with support from VRIDIAN and Lune.
About Johanz Westerman aka Thee J Johanz:
Johanz returns to India just as his latest club hit, More Cowbell is being played by a variety of DJs, from banging techno jocks like Richie Hawtin and DJ Hell to more eclectic house and disco players such as Prins Thomas, Afrobot, SHMLSS and Gerd Janson.
Thee J Johanz’s success began in the early nineties with releases on Iridal, Djax Up Beats and Ballyhoo Records (to name a few), as one of the first generation Dutch house and techno DJ's. After the first waves of house and techno he produced the first (award winning) Dutch trip-hop record with Grooves 'n Juice for Phat Vibes Records, and later what is probably the first Dutch jungle record in 1997. He's always been very adaptive to new music from all over the world, but during the last decennium he has found himself again in an eclectic blend of disco, (proto) house, italo, afro, cosmic disco, neo trance, darkwave, techno and pure acid, mixed with influences from all over the world. His live shows and DJsets are always a true journey where one can expect the unexpected.
As a DJ and a live performer he has played all over the world. These include bigger festivals and unique venues, like Lowlands Festival, Magnetic Fields Festival, Moma, Berghain / Panorama Bar, FIELD DAY, Frozen Land, Nuits sonores, Virus, 5 Days Off, SUNBURN Festival, Eurosonic, GEM fest etc, yet he still loves to play in small clubs and warehouses. Having Played over 3000 shows now. In many clubs in USA, UK, Germany, France,
China, Denmark, Philippines, Mexico, Sweden, Belgium, Georgia and India!
About Vridian:
Vridian is the shared moniker of Vir RC & Siddhant Jain.
Infatuated and charmed by dance culture from when they were just teens, this duo enjoys their time on either side of the DJ console. Having a wide range of musical influences amongst them both and a sure-shot passion for the craft of (appropriate) DJing, Vridian is also striving in their time in the studio with releases on imprints such as Dream Culture, Substation Recordings and Rennie Foster.
Gathering inspiration from the music that is now known as Electronica, Deep House and Techno, they delve into music that keeps a groove consistent in a plethora of atmospheres & a variation of rhythms. Vridian intends to be a well-rounded establishment for emotive electronic music (not limited to dance music).
2017 has seen the duo release original music internationally, garnering support from the likes of Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Danny Tenaglia, Sam Divine, Rennie Foster, Chris Fortier, FILM, Owen Ni, Ibiza Global Radio, Decoded Mag, DJ Mag IT and many more. Having traversed Vancouver’s nightlife, the duo have featured alongside acts such as Joyce Muniz, BLOT!, Isolee, Calm Chor, Djuma Soundsystem, Drunken Kong, Drumcomplex, Kohra, SHFT and Pete Oak back here in the homeland.
