Details about the Play :-

A Brief Outline of the play : All the devotees assembled in Kailash and requested Lord Mahadev to allow them to worship him in their own style. Mahadev agreed and the devotees performed Pooja-Vidhi in their grand styles. Upon completion of the Pooja, the devotees request Lord about whose Poojan was the best and the reason for the same. Lord Mahadev revealed that while he loves the devotees, it would have been better if the Pooja ingredients and stuff like milk, water, fruits, etc could be used for those who need them the most (the poor and hungry). These gesture would bring him greater happiness rather than wasting them in the temples. 

Once there lived two evil demons called Mali and Sumali and they caused terrific chaos on earth with their deeds. They were extremely powerful as Lord Mahadev had blessed them with a boon. Suryadev, the Sun God was utterly dismayed with the powers betrothed to the demons by Lord Mahadev and kills them while they were meditating. Suryadev’s misdeed towards his devotees caused great unpleasant to the Lord and he killed Suryadev with his Trishul. The entire Universe plunged into complete darkness. Suryadev’s father, Rishi Kashyap was enormously saddened with his son’s demise and cursed Lord Mahadev that his prospective son would also meet a tragic end. Lord Mahadev repents and bring Suryadev back to life.

Lord Mahadev was unhappy with Surya’s and other Gods arrogant behavior. He left Kailash to seek a solution for the same. Goddess Parvati attempted to stop Mahadev but he left; she was left alone in Kailash. One day, while she had to go for a bath and could not find anyone who could guard her home so using her supreme powers she created son Vinayak. She instructed Vinayak to keep a strict vigil at the entrance and not to allow anyone to enter the house. Vinayak obeyed and guarded the house with utmost strictness.

While Parvati was away, Lord Mahadev returned happily after attaining a solution to everyones vanity. Vinayak right away stopped him at the entrance on behest of Goddess Parvati's orders. The Lord was hugely enraged beyond limits. The other Gods and Goddesses request Vinayak to allow Mahadev to meet Parvati but Vinayak remains adamant and backlashes and defeat them. In a fit of rage, Mahadev beheads Vinayak. Goddess Parvati upon return was deeply aghast at the gory scene. She bursts with anger on his deed. Mahadev was very repentant about Vinayak and confers to bring Vinayak back to life by resurrecting the head of the first living creature towards the north, that fell in his sight. He sent Nandi and Indra in search of the same and they found a baby elephant. What happened next… How did Vinayak regain life... How did Vinayak becomes Ganesha... About the Group Sanskriti : Sanskriti Theatre Group is well known group for giving platform to upcoming artists and for the productions based on mythological events and patriotic themes. In the last 19 years (since 1999) group has been performed several ballets like Shri Rama, Krishna, Durga, Mahadev, Agnisuta-Draupadi, Meera, Daanveer Karna…the unwanted one, Bheeshma, Dasha-avtar, Luv-Kush...the twin warriorany many more. The other forthcoming productions are Maharaja Agrasen, Gautama Buddha and Chaitnya Mahaprbhu. Sanskriti is also organizing a 14 days long Digital Ramayana Show in Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad since 2014. The show is winner of Best RamLeela Show in UP 2014 and 2015, Best Concept design, Best Ram, Best Actor also.

About the Director : This dramatic play is directed by Mr. Rajeev Raj Gupta, diploma holder from the reputed Shri Ram Center, Mandi House and YMCA, worked for several productions and serials. Have done Film Making course from Institute of Moving Images, Pune with excellent grades. He is a well known choreographer also, specially works to give chance to upcoming artists to show their talent.
