Event Description : THEATRE : Prastav Group presents "Upsanhar" Hindi Play based on novel by sahitya akadmi awardi kashinath singh
It is said about the Mahabharat that whatever is present in this world, is also present in it; that which is not in the Mahabharat, is nowhere. Presenting this truth in the form of the Legend of Krishna (Krishna katha) from post Mahabharat, is this play Upsanghaar.
At the heart of this play is the story of Dwarka’s Lord, Shri Krishna’s final days. It is as much poignant as it is heroic. This is as much as Krishna’s story as it is of the creation and destruction of Dwarka. Krishna is the most significant character in the Mahabharat- he is Yogeshwar, the divine player and a God.
After the great war of Mahabharat, a different side of shri Krishna’s personality is revealed where behind achievements, many failures come to light one by one. The splendid Dwarka which was made possible with all his love and effort was crashing down bit by bit. The Great Krishna whose majestic visage rattled even the bravest of soldiers in Kurukshetra, was now himself appearing helpless. What is the true meaning of victory after all? Are all triumphs ultimately concealed by failures?
The meaning and futility of war; the meaningless mutual-destruction of a directionless new generation of Dwarka, which faces a battle between truth and untruth; the loneliness of Krishna after he reaches the pinnacle of success and many such foundational questions are pondered upon in this dramatic presentation.
Cast : Happy Ranajit, Rohit Tripathi, Kajal Suri, Astha Gupta, Shilpa Verma, Deepanand, Guraang
Directed by Raj Narain Dixit.
