Event Description : Kunzum Travel Cafe in partnership with SEWA Bharat is proud to announce a first-of-its-kind Masala Chai & Chat event, which aims to connect Delhi’s enthusiastic and socially-aware circuit to a group of bright, young women from marginalized communities of this city.

As these great minds come together, the goal is to facilitate mutual collaboration, synergy of ideas and long-term productive relationships.

Background

Women from marginalised communities across India are constantly faced with restrictions of mobility, education, livelihood and so on. This in turn makes it difficult for them to become financially self-reliant. They are often left out of India’s economic growth story and restricted to the outskirts of development, especially in the ever-evolving digital age economy we work in. So, how do we attempt to address this lack of opportunity? How do we help these women become employable and financially independent?

Our answer: Through Skill Development.

From computer literacy to confidence building, from entrepreneurship and business courses to lessons in young leadership, SEWA Bharat runs multiple Skill Training Courses across Delhi for young girls and women, helping them reach a point of employability. We then help connect them to job opportunities or guide them towards entrepreneurship. A large part of this programme includes mentorship and guidance, since lack of role models is one of the biggest challenges in these areas. Through each training session, we see incredible leaders with innovative ideas being born, unlocking their untapped potential.

Come forward and meet them, hear their stories and help them gain exposure to a world they weren’t given the chance to know. Sip Masala Chai & Chat with the young women leaders of tomorrow.

AGENDA

-Interactive dialogue between young girls from economically and socially marginalised backgrounds, and Delhi’s socially-aware, like minded citizens.

-Identifying Mentor A Girl and Sponsor A Girl partnerships to help these young leaders upskill and enter the job market.

-Facilitating an exchange of ideas and long-term collaborations for mutual benefit.
