Event Description : FEST : Dilliwala Khazana Festival
Dilliwala Khazana – Treasures of Delhi is about celebrating the myriad elements that make up the best of Delhi. It’s no secret that being a Dilliwala means being a person with a ‘dil’ for the finest in food, art, music and culture. Dilliwala Khazana aims to bring out a unique experience of the city’s heritage, magic and secrets to the world.
Food - The festival will bring together some of the best of the street foods not only from the Walled City - some known, some forgotten – but from newly developed tastes that Delhi has spawned. Expect Khan Mughlai from Daryaganj, Netaji ki Chaat from Chandni Chowk, Rajeev Bhai ke Special Omlette, Changezi Chicken from Ballimaran, Indo Kulfi from Karol Bagh, wide variety of momos from Momo.in, Pyar Mohabat Sharbat from Matia Mahal, Daulat ki Chaat and Taufeeq ki Biryani from Chitli Qabar in Puraani Dilli. Some of the other brands representing Delhi’s cosmopolitain culinary culture include Yeti – The Himalyan Kitchen, Dom Dom Biryani serving Kolkata specialities, Kathputli, Culinary Pitaara, Indian Catering Company doing a wide range of vegetarian fusion food. Music/Art/Theatre/Dance/Poetry- Accompanying the vast spread of culinary delights will be performances of soulful yet energizing Sufi music performed by the best emerging, young talent from across India. Expect a mix of traditional Sufi and folk music with the likes of Nizami Brothers, Bally Sagoo, Copy Cats, Tritha and Dilli ki Billi Collective featuring Fouzia Dastango (Urdu storyteller), Parvati Tampi (improvised dancer), Reetu Jain (Kathak Dancer), Sergio Dinarte (Bass & Vox Effects), Ritika Singh (Rap, Vocals, Theatre) Madhusudan Baul (Baul Geet, Ananda Lahiri), Kartikey Vashisht (Flute & Wind Instruments) and Mohit Lal (Tabla & Percussions), Trippy Sama and many more.
Theatre - Padmashri Awardee, Dadi Pudumjee’s The Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust will create special performances based on the theme of the festival.
Shopping - Adding even more texture to the festival will be a vast array of curated flea shops that will bring to life the spirit of Meena Bazaar, with many traditional attractions on offer, with ethnic designs being the focus, as well as some that will be especially there for the ladies visiting the festival, such as specialty hennas, ittars, authentic aromatic spices and the choicest bangles.
