Event Description : EXHIBITION ‘Rendezvous with Nature’ solo show of sculptures by Ashish Kumar Das.
For the first time in Delhi, Ashish Kumar Das, a renowned sculptor artist featuring his work at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi for a week. He is celebrating 25 years of his professional journey. The show talks about the inherent fervour particularly the culture, religion, language so interwoven with Nature around has always touched his life. The natural environment stands out amongst all this and has carved a special niche in his life. The rendezvous with nature has brought forth an eclectic vision in his sculptures sometimes as Man reaching for the moon or in other cases the different Mudras of Buddha used rhetorically in the journey of peace and satisfaction.
Recently he has finished working for "The Canadian Museum of Hindu Civilization" at Toronto, Canada. It was based on Hindu Civilization where he has created a series of ten sculptures which are to be part of the Wall of Peace project and is installed there.
Mr. Das has been honoured with Bombay Art Society Annual Exhibition award and The Elizabeth Greensheilds Awards, Canada (Two times)
About the Artist: Ashish Kumar Das is a sculptor, who’s realistic and contemporary works are primarily cast in bronze and wood. Mr. Das has completed a number of significant projects, which includes a number of significant public-space commissioned artworks. His work in sculpture and sound- sculpture explores our shared experiences of living on this ancient continent together.
