Event Description : Embassy of Hungary, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre and Gallery Sree Arts presents a thought provoking exhibition by an Indian contemporary artist P.S. Sujeet titled “Perspectives”.
Curated by Jitendra Padam Jain
About the exhibition: The exhibition, in acrylic on canvas and mix media on paper, is a stark yet geometric portrayal of the spiritual and modern life. It is a unique and insightful scrutiny of the way our lives are headed. The canvases invite the connoisseur to delve deep into the gauge of black and white within themselves and the world around them and at the same time accept the hues of grey and the stark colour drawing myriad interpretations of life, man and his humanness.
The curator and the artist were working on this concept past three months. The canvases portray the artist Sujeet’s conflict and cares and his creative urge to present his besieged soul onto paper.
Sujeet is a creative spirit spewing his creativity into paintings. A graduate from The Delhi College of Arts in Applied Art, Sujeet spent several eventful years in the Television and Broadcast Industry. His creative urge took him to founding and running Grasshopper Media, a leading design house, besides juggling as a part time lecturer teaching MFA students at his Alma Mater.
Born in Hojai, a small town in Assam, Sujeet spent his childhood and a large part of his youth going to the government school Janakpuri and growing up playing cars with spare tyres in the by lanes of humble Delhi, where life was not easy but not too dull either. Sujeet has now taken refuge in geometric shapes hidden in everyday life. A large part of Sujeet’s inspiration is drawn from his childhood impressions that left an indelible mark on his psyche.
The black and white paintings bring to life the ruthlessness of life whereas the contrasting colour and the indefinable shades of grey bring myriad interpretations to the surprises that come with everyday. The paintings depict the struggle, the joys and the reality of everyday modern life. In pen and ink, these canvases are an ode to man and his humanness.
He was born in 1972 and is settled in New Delhi aspiring to put more and more of his perspectives onto canvas.
