Event Description : The Piano Man Jazz Club and Lock & Key present Giants of Jazz: Volume 3
Giants of Jazz is back with its third edition! Delhi's beloved hub of art and culture, The Piano Man Jazz Club, which has brought some unbelievable programming to the country, is all set to host the 3rd edition of its flagship festival in association with Lock & Key, Gurgaon, starting this month. This year, the festival has gone a step further and will be taking place across two cities, covering The Piano Man, Delhi and Lock & Key, Gurgaon from November 30th-9thDecember 2017.
Gurgaon is in for a treat as for the first time ever, Lock & Key brings the finest jazz musicians from across the world to Gurgaon. Inspired by the “blind pig” trend of the 1920s, Lock & Key is a speakeasy entrant on Gurgaon’s culinary and nightlife landscape and exudes a rustic mood with traces of mystery and adventure lurking in the air. The 10 day extravaganza features an incredible line up celebrating some of the best Indian and international artists. With live acts every single day of the 10-daycalendar across two venues, this one-of-a-kind celebration of the structured chaos that is Jazz, is bound together by a deep love for the music shared between the artist and the audience.
Lock & Key is proud to bring the magic of such a festival for the very first time to Gurgaon, with some incredible talent that wouldn’t be as accessible otherwise.
The ten – day long festival will bring together live performances from the best Jazz artists in celebration of music that is democratic, inclusive, powerfully emotional, and that speaks across all people.
Enjoy ten days of joyful, progressive and participatory celebration in a language understood the world over at Lock & Key this season.
Schedule :
30th November - Sava Boyadzhiev Trio: is a Bulgarian drummer, percussionist, timpanist, sessions musician and educator. During his 20 year long career as a successful sessions player, Sava has played the most prestigious venues and festivals in 25 countries and across 4 continents.
1st December- The Shonai Collective: is basically a trio based out of Kolkata. The band members are Premjit Dutta, Aakash Ganguly and Shonai. The sound can be best described as a mix of funk, traditional jazz, blues and pop. They mostly perform their own compositions along with a few popular jazz tunes rearranged in their unique style.
2nd December – Lucia: Sentirenla Lucia is a vocalist from Nagaland, India who has found her forte in R&B, Neo-soul and Jazz-Fusion music. After receiving a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, Lucia relocated to Boston, Massachusetts and graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance.
3rd December – Kefaya: An eclectic group of immigrants, travelers and international artists, Kefaya seeks to find the common ground between folk traditions of the world with a cutting-edge sound rooted firmly in the 21st century.
4th December – Lautaro Tissera Favaloro: is an Argentinian guitarist born in Buenos Aires (Argentina). He performs on stage as a soloist, is part of the Orquesta Tipica La Sacada and a member of the quartet El Mondongo de Palermo, bands for which he also does composition work and arrangements.
