Event Description : Delhi Blue Pottery Trust and Sanskriti Foundation present "Ceramic Fest Delhi 2017".
It’s time to immerse yourself in the magic of the potter’s art; the mesmerizing swirl of the potter’s wheel; the beauty of the glaze: CeramicsFest, the annual celebration of studio pottery organized by Delhi Blue Pottery Trust and Sankriti Kendra, returns to Anandgram for the seventh time.
This event, which is possibly the largest gathering of ceramic artists in one place in the country, offers a range of exceptional products shaped by the delicate touch of skillful hands. Numerous workshops give visitors, old and young, the opportunity to work with clay; to experience for themselves the joy of transforming a lump of clay with their hands. The direct interaction between visitor and the artist facilitates a greater understanding of the art. Participation of schools is encouraged so that children can be exposed and sensitized to this wonderful medium and, perhaps, even benefit from its therapeutic qualities.
The chief guest at this year’s CeramicsFest is the internationally acclaimed Indonesian ceramist, Dr.Ponimin Hum, whose works will be exhibited at the festival. Dr. Hum will give a talk on the various designs and techniques that can be seen in Indonesian ceramics from the classic to the contemporary. He will demonstrate, and conduct a workshop on, Indonesia’s traditional, figurative ceramics that use the hand building, pinching and coil ornamentation techniques.
As always, the workshops are open to all visitors. Join Manjari Sharma as she shares her insights on mask-making, the well-known ceramist couple Monica and Ambar Agnihotri who are holding a workshop on hand building, or the Raku workshop conducted by eminent ceramist Leena Batra. There will also be a film screening of Sardar Gurcharan Singh’s life compiled from archival material. Shot in the seventies and eighties, it recalls the hardships, endeavors and achievements of the early years and their fruition in a major movement in contemporary ceramics.
