Event Description : EXHIBITION : Gallerie Ganesha presents "Nukkad" a solo show by Alok Uniyal.

The metropolis has been a muse for Uniyal repeatedly and he has captured its many nuances and idiosyncracies over the years. This time he returns to the city in order to capture the magic of the ‘Nukkad’ or the street corner, that is a hub of activity and melting pot of the everyday life of everyday citizens.  The works express simple joys and activities of the not so affluent city dwellers.  This is a commentary on the real and unpretentious life of the city, away from the limelight and glamour. It talks about the ordinary people who contribute to the grandeur of the megapolis. Everything from the bandwallas when off duty, to the young lovers on a scooter, and the aspiring couple taking selfies, is seen with the back drop of the small shops and autos and narrow streets. It almost feels like a peak into the green room while the actors are taking a break from their performance. The choice of colours and the characters makes this show endearing and heart warming in a modest unassuming manner.
