Event Description : THEATRE : Aagaaz Theatre presents "Raavan Aayaa" Hindi Play Based on Sukumar Ray’s Lokkhoner Shaktishel
Raavan is coming for the battle. This news has unsettled the people of the opposite ranks. With Raavan’s inevitable arrival as the background, the play disintegrates to expose the Raavan within. The play explores the idea of the illusion of a villain to create systematic hierarchical divisions in the ranks. Is Raavan the real threat or is it the system of never-ending flattery and attempts to keep on creating chaos in order to maintain the prevalent disorder in the society? Who’s Ravan? Does that even matter?
About Aagaaz : Aagaaz creates inclusive spaces for learning, critical thought, and dialogue through community arts practices. Engaging children and young adults across social and geographical boundaries, we relentlessly question ‘what is’ to probe ‘what could and should be’.
Our roots are in theatre practice and at the heart of the organization is a core group of arts practitioners, theatre makers, and facilitators from Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti. We engage the young through learning spaces in poor urban settlements of Delhi/NCR and performances in a range of venues and non-venues to generate conversations and debates.
A network of seekers, co-learners, mentors, and friends, continues to enrich the organization through a range of diverse professions and passions.
After Duniya Sabki last year, Raavan Aayaa is our second production.
