Event Description : THEATRE "Chitralekha" Hindi Historical Musical Play
Chitralekha, a dancer with great beauty and intellect is an empowered woman, materialistic, large hearted and honest to the core. It is a love story of a young Samant Beejgupta, a young hermit Kumargiri and the beautiful dancer Chitralekha that takes you to a philosophical ride of life’s many twists and turns and how each one of them become a victim of their circumstances. Bhagwati Charan Verma’s acclaimed Novel now a hindi musical play, first time in Delhi. Directed by Sunil Chaudhry and dance direction by Nibha Narang a trained Kathak Artist. She is the disciple of Dr. Shashi Sankhla of Jaipur Gharana.
The play Chitralekha will make you think that virtues and sins that prevails at that period still exist in our social system. The play highlights, "We do neither sin nor virtue, we do what our circumstances compel us to do. We act according to the circumstances and that act is a virtue or sin, it is decided by the existing dominant society of that contemporary time”. It is a beautiful bold presentation of "NATYOTSAV" where you will find confluence of language, culture and contemporary music.
