Event Description : MUSIC : Voicestra: A Journey through the Balkans

Voicestra is a vocal quartet that came together with the idea of introducing and showcasing Balkan folk music through vocal arrangements. The quartet, comprising of Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Aditi Malhotra, Kaushik Manikandan and Vikramaditya Negi seeks to explore folk music from the Balkan region of Eastern Europe, Bulgaria in particular. 

As a tribute to the stories that have passed down generations through the soaring voices of the Balkans and their passionate and powerful language, the lyrics of the music describe every day chores and countryside life and is usually sung by the women of the community.
