Short Synopsis : This is a film about the intercultural relationship about India and Japan. It also tries to throw light and search for the soul of India. Saiji Makino, a young Japanese army personnel, lost his balance after the nuclear explosion in Hiroshima during the 2nd World War. The deaths and devastation made him an endless wanderer. His restless mind started frantically looking for a place where he could put his tortured soul to peace. His mentor suggested him to go to India, where he might get this solace. He had already heard about ‘Sevagram’, the Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi at Wardha and also about ‘Santiniketan’ at Bolpur. Makino first joined Sevargram (1958), for two years and then came to Vishwa Bharati University at Santiniketan as a Professor of Japanese Language. His soul healed under the influence of philosophies of Gandhi and Tagore.
