Event Description : THEATRE : Dramatised readings of two Interludes (plays) written by Miguel de Cervantes: “The Magic Cave of Salamanca” and “The Sham Biscay” translated into "बिसके का बहरूपिया" by Octave Foundation.

About the plays: "The Cave of Salamanca" is a story based on medieval legend, of a bored housewife who gets up to mischief while her husband is away. It all goes horribly wrong when he comes back early, but a passing student plays some devilish tricks to save the day. There is more sexual trickery when a couple of prostitutes are fooled by a fake prince and an even more fake gold chain in "बिसके का बहरूपिया" originally titled "The Sham Biscay".

Cast: Anuja Jaiman, Blessin Varkey, Himanshu Singh, Nicky Chandam, Preeti Agarwal Mehta, Valentina Trivedi

Performance in English and Hindi.

About the performers: Octave Foundation is an NGO that was established with the idea of
bridging the gaping divide between India’s North Eastern states and the rest of the country by bringing together folk tales, narratives, culture, habits, traditions, simplicities and complexities, words and songs. Growing up in a decade that has witnessed innumerable socio-political conflicts, the founders of the organization recognize that creative arts and performance arts transcend all boundaries by forming a language of their own. To bring people together, which is critical now than ever before, we have to delve deeper into our roots and give platforms of convergence to celebrate ethnic diversities. With this mission, Octave Foundation is attempting to weave the dying art of storytelling and the strong need of cultural convergence to a single platform called Wari. The word ‘Wari’ means ‘story’ in Manipuri language and since its inception in May 2016, nine stories spanning nine different regions have been performed. Wari is an effort to initiate conversations.
