Event Description :
Sahapedia presents "Remembering the Women in history" Walk through Red Fort and Salimgarh Fort, and Storytelling

The art and architecture of Delhi, whatever is left of it, tell the stories of many prominent women— queens, rulers, princesses, courtesans, poetesses. However, there are several shortcomings in the way we memorialize these women. Their narratives are either reduced as being paramours to rulers, or glorified to mythic proportions. But what was the actual role of women in architecture— as patrons, producers as well as ‘objects’ of representation? Who are the women whose stories must be told and re-told to get a more holistic picture of the times? How does their role in architecture mark their identities? Discover all this and more on a walk through Red Fort and the much-lesser known Salimgarh fort, interspersed with a few storytelling sessions.

Name of the Walk Leader— Swarnima Bhattacharya.

She is the founder of Women’s Health Line, a history and archaeology enthusiast and social researcher.
