Event Description : THEATRE : Barefoot! presents "Three Hearings on the Existence of Snakes in the Human Bloodstream"
An Ensemble Theatre Performance
Supported by India Foundation for the Arts
After a successful run at OddBird Theatre in December 2016, the ensemble performs at a Community Centre. The attempt is to bring the experience of a live theatre performance to peoples’ neighbourhoods, in order to connect with and broaden the community of theatre-going audiences in the city.
There are also other activities such as open discussions and workshops during the days from 12 PM onwards (schedule below, and on Facebook link), to enliven and enrich the experience. All events are free and open to all, although the shows and some workshops require prior registration, due to limited seats.
Three Hearings on the Existence of Snakes in the Human Bloodstream is an interactive, thought-provoking and entertaining account of the divisiveness of the human race in a parallel universe not very different from our own.
An adaptation of the science-fiction story by James Alan Gardner, the play examines how ‘otherness’ is manufactured, and how differences between human beings are willfully magnified, preserved and even worshipped. The audience’s questions become a part of the performance, as do the actors’ own reflections and associations.
Featuring: Aalia Sinha, Daman Sidhu, Devika Rajpal, Kaustav Sinha, Kriti Pant, Kusum Haider, Mohit Mukherjee, Mohit Satyanand, Piyush Kumar, Rea Krishna, Shruti, Varoon P. Anand, & Anant Dayal
Produced by: Ashish Paliwal | Dramaturgy by: Niranjani Iyer | Directed by: Shena Gamat
